16/3/1900:Sir Atrhur Evans, led the excavation at the first strike at Knossos. In a short time he would bring to light one of the greatest discoveries ever made.
It was 16 March 1900 when the archaeological excavation was about to begin the first excavation at Knossos under the direction of the diminutive, only 1.58 m tall, myopic Briton, Arthur Evans, who would lead the way to one of the greatest discoveries in the history of archaeology. Sir Arthur John Evans revealed in its entirety the civilisation he called ‘Minoan‘, which was in his day only a faint mythical memory.
